Ecoute Le Temps Reviewed
Very atmospheric. A gentle pace that keeps you hooked throughout. It’s also refreshing to see what is essentially a supernatural thriller shot in a very realistic and almost documentary way. Oddly it makes you believe in the occurrences even more than if it were dressed in dramatic lighting. Unfortunately the aspect ratio for the film was cocked up when it was transferred so you see all the things not intended for us, matte boxes, microphones in almost every other shot and more upsetting, you’re not seeing the frame the filmmakers composed. Seeing as the film is about a sound recordist, I spent most of it waiting for the dramatic twist to reveal the whole conceit as a film set or documentary. But don’t let it put you off - it’s a great film.
